Shen Cai 沈采

Shen Cai is an artist currently teaching at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). She graduated from the CAFA School of Design in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council to study Art, Media and Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she earned a Master of Arts degree. As a highly anticipated new generation artist, Shen Cai actively explores the relationship between humans and machines through various media in her artistic practice. Her main research area is the human-centered human-machine relationship in art, focusing on the gray area between mechanization and humanity. She uses video, installation, and other forms to establish and express a new order and relationship between humans and machines. Shen Cai's works have been exhibited at numerous museums and art institutions both domestically and internationally, including the CAFA Art Museum, the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center in New York, the Aronson and Kellen Gallery in New York, the Ethan Cohen KuBe Art Museum at the Ethan Cohen Art Center in New York, the Daimaru Art Museum in Shanghai, and The Victorian Artist Society in Melbourne. He has participated in and been selected for domestic and international art projects, including the 2019 Qingjin Project, the Edinburgh Project-CAI Young Artist Lab Project, and the Future Unknown Global Education Project exhibited at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
