• Bao Pei 鲍蓓

    b.1960, Huizhou, Anhui Province, China

    Bao Pei is a Chinese-American Artist. She graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in print-making in 1984, and started working for Chinese Art report (Chinese National Academy of Arts) and National Art Museum of China in 1985. In 1987, she moved to New York and lived there for 15 years until 2003. Then, she moved back to Beijing, China.


    Bao Pei's major creative language is based on printmaking and overlaying a variety of comprehensive materials. This kind of language is more close to a kind of spiritual expression. It is opposite to realism painting that pays more attention to the visual reality. It actually closer to the artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting.


    Bao Pei has held a number of solo exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, etc., and also took part in many group exhibitions all over the world. Her works have been collected by the Chinese Museum of Women and Children, the British Museum, the National Gallery of Art (Switzerland), the Portuguese ambassador to China, Siemens Headquarters in Germany, Motorola China, etc.. In 2010, she was selected by Cartier as one of the most outstanding female painters in China.
